to get or not to get
Lindsay Lohan is going to jail right now, no idea why I’m so excited about this. Ever since Paris Hilton was forced to serve time, when most of these starlets get off with a few hours in jail, I’ve felt like all of them should go to jail. I spend way too much time reading gossip sites……
So yesterday was our anniversary, and it was kind of a weird one because we didn’t actually celebrate the day of. That Alaskan vacation was kind of an anniversary present to each other. We had a nice anniversary weekend. We went to the movies and out to dinner and Sunday night we had grilled salmon and champagne. But Monday, the actual day of, I was at home sitting on my butt and he was at work. And then at dinner I wrote HAPPY ANNIVERSARY on his napkin in silver sharpie because I’m classy.
I am considering getting a kitten. I have never had a cat in my life and am semi allergic to long haired ones. It’s a very big decision for me based upon that alone. What if i accidentally get a kitten that I think will be short haired and ends up long haired? can you shave a cat? anyway, my husband has had cats and he’s not worried about this at all. he knows how to introduce them to dogs. I am such a worry wart when it comes to my furbabies. What if my dogs hate the cat? Can’t we all just get along?
I have friends with cats, and some of their cats I have only seen once or twice. Cats just kind of walk around self sufficient, which I think I might like. But then I might also be sad that this cat ignores me. For those of you who have cats, any difference between males and females that should be noted?
Nothing ever sounds like a good idea to me the first time around, i overthink everything. I think i should just go to the humane society and get a kitten. what do you think?
happy anniversary
Happy Anniversary to me. I mean US! Two years ago today at 6:30pm we got married at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas!
We almost had an Elvis wedding but I watched a few online and realized I am not THAT outgoing.
A few years prior to getting married we were watching this show on TV called The Casino. It followed the two dot com owners of the Golden Nugget and the changes they were making to the vintage casino on Fremont St. We were so intrigued by that show that we started going to the old strip instead of the new strip and staying at the Nugget. If you have never been to Fremont St. it’s not as fancy or big as The Strip but it’s old school Vegas and you get more bang for your buck.
The Nugget has been completely redone and is gorgeous inside and out. So when we finally decided to get married, the Nugget seemed like the obvious choice.
First of all, my wedding invitations were in the form of an Evite. I think you have to know me to appreciate this. I have sent out multiple evites in the past that made it look like they were invitations to shotgun wedding receptions, but when you opened them you’d see they were just invites to a poker party. so this time I sent out an invite to a poker party in Vegas AFTER we got married. I had to add that we were actually serious this time!
Planning a wedding in Vegas is easy if you do it at a Casino chapel. and if you have a future MIL who is willing to do most of the leg work. I picked a time, place, menu and flowers. done. I planned my entire wedding at work via fax.
I ordered these magnets as favors, keeping in line with the casino theme.
We booked the fanciest hotel room, the one we were saving for a special occasion. One bedroom and two stories, and because it’s on Fremont St. it’s at least half the price you think we paid.
Everyone we invited came, we had a total of I believe 28 at the wedding, including us.
My girlfriends all came by before the ceremony for pre wedding mimosas! this was when I realized i was bloated, barely fit into my dress and should have brought the spanx. hi i am fat not pregnant. That’s my $37 wedding dress!
Then we got married. Whoah, are we bored! I asked for the shortest ceremony possible. it was still like 15 minutes. the minister said our last name wrong, and that set the tone for the rest of the wedding, i had the giggles. Then he said Holy Matrimony, like Robin would say HOLY MATRIMONY BATMAN

And done. And please place your flowers or your new husbands hand strategically in front of your bloated belly.
Now let’s party

OK, not so much party as have dinner and cake. The food was awesome
Afterward we all went out onto Fremont St and gambled and drank and had a merry time.
Then we drove home back to AZ the next day and lived happily ever after.
The end.
another one
I haven’t really worked much the months of June or July. first there was the Alaskan Vacation in June that required 7 days off. Then there was the 4th of July long weekend, followed by me taking this past Monday off and this Friday and Monday off as well. I’m not complaining, I’m still 100% caught up at work because when I know I need to get things done, I get things done.
This weekend is my anniversary weekend. TWO YEARS on Monday. I’ll be reminiscing about my awesome Vegas Wedding on Monday. It was really only a half elopement as we were engaged about 6 weeks. I’m very impatient about some things. Apparently I could wait 6.5 years to get married, but once we decided to get married I needed to fast track the whole thing. And the only two things I would have done differently would have been to have a different hairstyle and I’d have worn my SPANX!!! I still think getting married was a lot of fun and I’d love to do it again but he’s not into that idea.
I have a massage booked for this afternoon. I’m actually not looking forward to it because I don’t feel as if I need it today. But I know that once I get on that warm comfy table, I’ll be glad I’m there.
SKYDIVING!
The jump went really well. There were some delays getting them suited up and up into the air. One of the pilots had to leave because his wife went into early labor so that threw the whole schedule off.
JUMP! or rather be forcibly pushed from the aircraft. You don’t jump so much as the guy attached to you pushes you out.
Just hanging out. This was after the chute was opened, otherwise they’d still be facing down. Maybe you can see me down there, I am wearing a pink shirt.
Coming in for a landing.
After he landed, no less than three people yelled NO LIFE INSURANCE FOR YOU, at me.
There is a 5 second span of time where they are so high up even the plane is a dot in the sky to people on the ground. And then you see these tiny little things fall out of that plane. And probably 15-30 seconds later you see the chute open and at least for me, that’s when you can breathe easy.
I think a lot of people expected me to be nervous about this, but I never really gave serious thought to the fact that this could end badly. These people that work at this place can jump ten times a day and they are fine. if it was that dangerous it’s not something that would be open to the public. you take a chance crossing the street.
The guy he was attached to was such a ham. He did ten jumps that day and loved every second of it, just another day at the office for him. In most of the aerial photos he’s hamming it up for the camera and making silly faces. His last jump was the one right after my husband, it was a coworker of my husbands and she was terrified. When she finally landed, the guy detached himself from her and she just fell to the ground and layed there. She was trying really hard not to throw up. It’s something she always wanted to do so she can check that one off on her bucket list, but she’ll never do it again. Surprisingly it wasn’t the free fall that did her in, it was after the chute was open that she started feeling sick.
I had assumed that when you jumped out of the plane you would have this huge sensation of falling and I do not like falling. But everyone that I heard talking after they landed, including my husband said the free fall wasn’t what they expected. I expected it to be like one big rollercoaster fall but more chaotic. the whole thing looked pretty peaceful and watching them float down was really fun. i just might give it a go someday.
It was a very long day, but well worth it.
early riser
I am up and at ‘em early this Saturday morning. I’ve been up since 5:30, not by choice but because lately I’ve not been sleeping well. So instead of laying around in bed doing nothing, I figured I’d get up and be semi productive. So far the only things I’ve managed to do are drink coffee, play some games on facebook and read twitter.
I am up so early there is no live local news on, i am currently watching reruns from last nights news and I’ve been sitting here so long, it’s repeating.
Today’s schedule is busy busy busy. After I go grocery shopping and the hubs and I go out to brunch we’re gassing up the car, getting iced coffees and driving out to Cottonwood (about 2.5 hours away) so that he can SKYDIVE!! It’s something he’s always wanted to do and it’s for charity so it’s perfect. People keep asking me if I am worried about this. And of course the pessimist in me always thinks WHAT IF???? But it’s a tandem jump with someone who has done this a million times and if it was really that dangerous then I doubt they would be doing this as a charity thing.
He can break a leg or a hip or a foot or sprain his ankle all he wants, but he cannot hurt his hands or arms. Those are his bread and butter!
Needless to say (but I will) we will be taking my car today since his is a stick and he won’t be able to drive home if he breaks a leg. I could drive home but we’d be in first gear the whole way, we’d never go in reverse and it might take me 20 minutes to get the car going from a green light.

What a busy weekend.
As I said before I became a first time aunt last week and we went over to see the baby Friday night. She’s tiny and i don’t do tiny babies, I have never in my life held a child that couldn’t support its own head. (i’ve also never changed a diaper) I’m content to watch other people hold the baby (and its head) I think she might actually be mine because she has long skinny fingers just like me. I think my pinkie is actually as big around as her thumb. Afterward the entire immediate family, sans the baby and the people that created her, went out for dinner.
We went out for Italian to a restaurant Icey and I had never been to before that is not exactly around the corner from our house. There were 9 of us and we were sat next to another large party who just happened to be our next door neighbors celebrating the wifes b-day! We found out that the next door neighbor kids found some inch worms and the boy decided to name them and he named them after Icey and meI!!
Saturday was busy fun times run around day. We went to Ikea to look for a new dining room table but came out empty handed. We were going to eat lunch there but that day they weren’t serving roasted chicken and that’s the only thing I like there. So we went to Cracker Barrell and on the way out I hear someone say my name and it’s an old friend from high school that I haven’t seen since 1992. He doesn’t even live in that neck of the woods but was out on the East side of town having lunch with his sister.
Later Saturday I spotted three houses on the market that I thought we should take a look at so we went to do drive bys of them. One definitely won’t do, it’s way too close to a major road and 75% empty shopping center. that night I finally got to watch Survival of the Dead, the latest Romero zombie movie and it was just ok. It’s really hard to top the remake of Dawn of the Dead and the whole 28 Days/Weeks later movies.
Sunday i took my mom out for a late lunch. She didn’t stay as long as she normally does, which confused me but I think she wanted to get home in time for the Suns game, which they won in a very stressful last minute of the game.
This week I have a massage on Tuesday, my big luxury. I have had a massage every two weeks for the past month and a half, and i am seeing the lady who hurt me last time. This time i’ll let her know LIGHT pressure is what I want.
Friday we’re actually going to take a tour inside a couple of houses, we’re still on the fence with moving but if something comes up that we love, we’ll think about it harder. Saturday my husband is jumping out of plane for charity. It’s a tandem jump and i won’t lie, i’m a little nervous about it. but at least he’s jumping with a professional.
oy vey
the day started out real nice. I took a shower and put on a bra, two things I rarely do on a Saturday. My husband is leaving for about a week and I thought that having a clean and put together wife would be a bonus on his last day here.
I did my grocery shopping and then we went out for a nice breakfast together. Then it was off to the mall to find me a dress to wear to Phrainqs wedding next week, where we ran into the bride to be!!! She said the wedding starts at 9:30 so be there on time or get locked out, sounds like my kinda girl. I’m all for being on time and can fully appreciate anyone who feels the same.
I did find a dress after going to two malls and two freestanding stores last week and walking out with nothing. The dress is super cute, almost Lucille Ball-esque, but without the polka dots and full skirt.
We were on our way to one more mall and Best Buy when Icey got a notice that his flight out tonight was cancelled. Way to go Jet Blue, cancelling a flight just hours before takeoff. Not only does this affect Icey, it affects his two younger sisters who were on the same flight. And who did not even get notice their flight was cancelled.
Jet Blue kept me on hold waiting for a customer service rep for one hour and when we finally got thru, whoever Icey spoke to turned out to be less than helpful. Her idea of helpful was basically to say sorry, laugh at our misfortune, and can we fly you out Wednesday instead. No? Too bad so sad then.
Needless to say, that reservation was cancelled and Icey’s stepfather came thru and found him a round trip flight. Thank you Andy, what a lifesaver. Then we spent some time online and got the girls flights out as well, but they won’t be leaving until tomorrow. Which is loads better than Wednesday. And they won’t be on Jet Blue.
Now Icey is leaving a few hours earlier than originally planned so I basically packed for him while he ran around outside getting the house ready for the painters this week. And we never made it to Best Buy so I hope whatever he needed wasn’t too important.
Since he’s leaving earlier I get to take him to the airport, which kind of makes me sad. But he’ll also be coming home hours earlier so that makes me happy.
This week the house is getting painted (hopefully) and I had taken Wednesday off to be home while this was going on. I figured that would make it easier on the painters and also on my dogs. After Icey and my friend Cat both suggested asking to work from home that day I finally got up enough courage to ask. I expected a big no, but my boss said yes without hesitation. I wasn’t expecting that at all So this week I get to work from home THREE days in a row. Which makes me feel better on so many levels. Now I get to stay home with my dogs while the house is being painted and I don’t have to use a vacation day.
things
I want a pedicure, a haircut and this dress. Or at least a dress close to that. Today I went to two malls and could not find a little black dress. The stores are mostly into spring things right now and those don’t fit my vision. Either that or they didn’t offer much in dresses at all. I have one more mall to try this weekend, and i really wanted to avoid the mall on a weekend.
House painting got pushed off a few days. which in the end has worked out better for us because we apparently need more time to get ready for them. We are always busy doing something, but for the life of me I cannot tell you what we spend our time doing.
Icey went out to Phrainq’s bachelor party Friday night and i’m not normally the type of girl who gets sad, lonely and bored when she’s left alone. But Friday night I got sad, bored, lonely AND pouty, so i went to bed at like 8pm.
My dogs stink. Anyone want to come give them a bath?
hip hop happenins
Day two of this awesome migraine I have.
I think every weekend should be mandatory three days. There are so many things going on right now that i’ve forgotten what a proper weekend is like. Yesterday we had the termites taken care of. It took about 4 hours and it looked like a pretty easy process. It was just one guy who drilled holes about every 6 inches inside the garage and around the house. then he filled them with poison and sealed them up and he was done.
Today we get to put the garage back together which is actually pretty exciting for me because i’ve been itching to organize and clean up that garage. I’m going thru another phase where ‘omg i have to try and fix and clean and make things nice around here’, so the garage being such a big project should be enough to satisfy me for a while.
I think next we’re going to call around and get some people out for estimates on painting this house. I sure they’d prefer doing that before summer.
Last night I had to get dressed in clothes that are not pajamas and go out in public with real live people. Icey thinks it’s important for me to get out of the house once in a while and talk to people who are not my dogs. Pffffft. We went out to dinner for his little bro’s birthday and while it was nice to see everyone that showed up (Hi Erich) I was bummed that a lot of the people I would have liked to see on my one night out a month, couldn’t make it.
