This is my favorite wedding picture. Minus my moms arm over there. I have it hung up all over the place and this is the one I put into my wedding announcements. Since we were only ‘engaged’ a couple of weeks and had a very small wedding, we went straight to announcements with a picture enclosed.
It’s even over there <——- on my sidebar.
It’s no secret that I have a probably slightly unhealthy obsession with zombies. Not all things zombie, i have my standards. There are a lot of crap/stupid zombie movies out there. My favorite ones are Shaun of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead (old and new) Land of the Dead and the 28 days/weeks later movies. I have a large zombie movie collection as well as a zombie fiction (or is it?) book collection.
About a year ago I came across an artist who could do beautiful things with your existing photos. He hand creates his interpretation of whatever photo you send him.
And this is what my husband got me for my birthday!
happy anniversary
Happy Anniversary to me. I mean US! Two years ago today at 6:30pm we got married at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas!
We almost had an Elvis wedding but I watched a few online and realized I am not THAT outgoing.
A few years prior to getting married we were watching this show on TV called The Casino. It followed the two dot com owners of the Golden Nugget and the changes they were making to the vintage casino on Fremont St. We were so intrigued by that show that we started going to the old strip instead of the new strip and staying at the Nugget. If you have never been to Fremont St. it’s not as fancy or big as The Strip but it’s old school Vegas and you get more bang for your buck.
The Nugget has been completely redone and is gorgeous inside and out. So when we finally decided to get married, the Nugget seemed like the obvious choice.
First of all, my wedding invitations were in the form of an Evite. I think you have to know me to appreciate this. I have sent out multiple evites in the past that made it look like they were invitations to shotgun wedding receptions, but when you opened them you’d see they were just invites to a poker party. so this time I sent out an invite to a poker party in Vegas AFTER we got married. I had to add that we were actually serious this time!
Planning a wedding in Vegas is easy if you do it at a Casino chapel. and if you have a future MIL who is willing to do most of the leg work. I picked a time, place, menu and flowers. done. I planned my entire wedding at work via fax.
I ordered these magnets as favors, keeping in line with the casino theme.
We booked the fanciest hotel room, the one we were saving for a special occasion. One bedroom and two stories, and because it’s on Fremont St. it’s at least half the price you think we paid.
Everyone we invited came, we had a total of I believe 28 at the wedding, including us.
My girlfriends all came by before the ceremony for pre wedding mimosas! this was when I realized i was bloated, barely fit into my dress and should have brought the spanx. hi i am fat not pregnant. That’s my $37 wedding dress!
Then we got married. Whoah, are we bored! I asked for the shortest ceremony possible. it was still like 15 minutes. the minister said our last name wrong, and that set the tone for the rest of the wedding, i had the giggles. Then he said Holy Matrimony, like Robin would say HOLY MATRIMONY BATMAN

And done. And please place your flowers or your new husbands hand strategically in front of your bloated belly.
Now let’s party

OK, not so much party as have dinner and cake. The food was awesome
Afterward we all went out onto Fremont St and gambled and drank and had a merry time.
Then we drove home back to AZ the next day and lived happily ever after.
The end.
married
The wedding was great, if there were any major problems or snags I never found out about them. And being MOH it would have been my job to find out and put out fires. But as far as I know, everything went smoothly. I wrote a speech but then only half followed it once up there. unfortunately I agreed to go after the best man who gives speeches at work all the time and is well versed and used to it. Afterwards people said I was funny and that I did a good job. something i said KILLED, and i was really only expecting half chuckles from it. But I told them they didn’t have to say that just because they like me. Friends are always way too complimentary.
And then we did something we hardly ever do. we went out the NEXT NIGHT!!!! We went to a friends house and had a coupley board game and dinner night. i’m not ashamed to say I won whatever that first game was that we played.
I swear to you I have not slept more than 6 hours a night for the past few weekends. Which is fine, until you try to get up for work at 4:30 on a monday morning.
This weekend my main plan is to spend time with my husband, alone and finally watch the SATC movie, (which he does not have to do) i’d like to thank ‘how i met your mother’ for spoiling it for me tho.

In a few hours I will be matron of honor in my friend Cat and Skrappy’s wedding. Their engagement was so long that my title has changed three times since she first asked me to be in their wedding. I was a bridesmaid, then i was maid of honor and then I got married so I became Matron of honor. but that sounds so old!
Being in other people’s weddings makes me more nervous than my own. I was not nervous at my own wedding at all because I didn’t have anyone to worry about disappointing. I was very cool and didn’t have a single freak out moment. But I always worry about being in other peoples weddings, especially this one because my job is a lot bigger than standing up there holding flowers.
I have to MAKE A SPEECH!!!!!
meh, whatever happens happens. You can’t spend all your time worrying about things that haven’t even happened yet and may never happen at all.
faces!
picture of the day
so far this one is my favorite. just click on it, it’ll get bigger.the pictures are massive and if I resize them too much they lose something. We’re going to get a 5×7 in this one.
I bought another wedding album today because as of right now we have like 75 pictures and I anticipate receiving at least 150 more once the disposables are developed and everyone who tooks pics on their own sends theirs to me. So far i’ve seen the ones Icey’s little sis took and they are pretty good. I’m also hoping, (wink wink nudge nudge) that a scrapbook will magically appear at my house, all pretty and stuff.
bad luck
I just have to say that so far, we’re not having good luck with this wedding weekend.
I took today off to do all the little things that need doing, as i mentioned before. And things were going pretty good until I picked up a pillow to put it back on the couch. Somehow that motion managed to do something wonky to my back. And I’ve taken so many pain pills that I want to throw up. I have a broken nail and an ugly cut on my right hand, and two zits. Last night Icey’s battery died at work (that’s four dead batteries in friends cars in less than a month, please check yours) My mother either has gout or a small fracture in one of her ankles, she can walk, but not well. That doesn’t bode well for her in Vegas.
I guess really it’s not all that bad, it’s just that things were going so smoothly for so long and then in a day all this crazy stuff starts happening.
I’m going to peel myself off the couch and try and finish up my long to do list.
wed = fri
It may only be Wednesday, but today is my Friday!
I took tomorrow off to do all those last minute things you have to do before you go out of town. This time it involves calming myself down enough to feel comfortable leaving my dogs at the Petshotel. Which isn’t really going to happen, I’ll just have to put on a brave face for them and pretend nothing is wrong and that mommy will be right back! We’ve been sleeping with small blankets for about two weeks, so that the dogs can have those in their suite (yes i said suite) and smell us in there with them. I am packing enough blankets and toys for an army of dogs.
I’m not nervous about getting married, i’m nervous about my POOR BABIES ALL ALONE WITHOUT US IN A STRANGE PLACE. I hope they forgive me.
Now I have three days to decide if I’m changing my name or not. Let’s take a poll!
