energy
I’m really feeling like August is going to be a good month for me, and not just because it’s my birth month. Even tho it’s hotter than crap outside and that usually makes me lethargic, I’ve gotten back a level of energy that I definitely didn’t have in July. I’m taking advantage of that energy and have gotten back on my treadmill, which was all but abandoned last month. My lungs do not agree with running for really any period of time, thanks to childhood asthma that made a comeback last year. It’s worse in humid weather and inhalers and/or meds don’t really help much, so i don’t bother. I can live with it the way it is and jog for very short periods of time.
anyway, my point is, i’m taking advantage of my new found energies and putting them towards something productive. I really love walking and the 4 months a year i can walk outside, i do. I got the treadmill specifically for the hot weather months. And probably to the surprise of everyone, it didn’t become a clothes rack. Like I said, I watch TV whilst on the treadmill and that really helps pass the time. otherwise walking indoors is rather boring.
i’m also dedicating August to doing new, fun, interesting things or things that make me happy.
Strange side note here, my big dog often lays on the couch or bed or chair with his head hanging off and this makes his nose drain. Just right now his nose drained right onto my shoes!! GROSS.
The yellowish color on the photo is from taking this picture in the dark with no flash. He was sleeping on New Years Eve, apparently worn out from all the partying he did.
My friend Cat (go visit her) and I signed up for Bountiful Baskets this weekend. that’s where you pay for a basket of half fruits and half vegs that is locally grown.
From their website: Each week different items will be in the Bountiful Basket! We base the basket contents on what is in season, high quality, good value, and local. We generally have 6 fruit items & 6 vegetable items. We focus on what would be well received in our homes, and the extensive surveys we’ve done with participants over the past 5 years to know what families eat.
Cat and I are splitting the first basket for a few reasons. Neither of us has done this before and we’re both too scared to go alone. The closest one to our houses that had this going on at the time I wanted to go (i’m bossy like that) only had one basket left and also i have heard/seen that you get a crapload of stuff in these baskets and we weren’t sure if it would be too much for one household. so we’re feeling it out this weekend to see what it’s like.
interview
First of all, I was interviewed over at Friday Follow , it’s just a quick interview about my blogging history.
2nd. It’s Thursday hop time, and this is the only hop I’m doing today.
I’ve recently become addicted to sending away for free samples because I’m convinced that it will save me money. I might never have to buy shampoo/conditioner or feminine hygeine products again. I’m even getting treats for my dogs! I’m checking the mail every day because I’m so excited to see what’s going to show up that day. Yesterday was tampons. whoo hoo!!! hahah. I got a new email address specifically for this, just in case these companies decide to start spamming me.
Still iffy on the kitten. People are really 50/50 on cats. You either love them or hate them, there doesn’t seem to be anyone in the middle when it comes to cats. I was told by a couple of people that if you treat the kitten like you treat your dogs, it will grow up more cuddly and into you than a cat would normally be. I have only had dogs and I make them very codependent (which i love) and we have formed a very tight ‘dogpack’ in our home. It’s our fault, we should have socialized them more so that going to the dog park or taking them to friends houses who also have dogs, would have been easier. But you live and learn. And honestly I can’t say that I mind too much that they can’t live without me!

If you are here from ICLW, hello!!!!
The basic rundown of me and who I am is simple.
I do not have children, but I do have two dogs who I treat like children, probably a little too much. But I can’t help it, they are SO CUTE! I don’t know how many people have dogs that understand the words hug and kiss, but mine do.
I met my husband in dive a bar. I know you’re not ‘supposed’ to do that but I figured I was in that bar and I’m a nice person….
We got married in Vegas July 19, 2008 after dating for six and a half years. It was technically not an elopement, if you go back a few entries you can see wedding pictures. I would love love love to get married again, I thought it was great fun.
I watch a lot of TV, I have two DVR’s. One for the upstairs and one for the downstairs. I also watch a lot of TV on the internet, I should probably use my tv viewing time for something more productive, like exercise or saving the world. Or maybe I could just pick up a book once in a while.
I was not born in Arizona but moved here when I was 2, so I can kind of be considered a native. I do love it here but that is because Arizona is the only home I have known. Right now tho with temps being at least 110* and it being monsoon season, it’s not a fun place to be. Right now it’s not a dry heat.
I love the water, I love being near or on the water. Except that as stated above we live in AZ and there’s no real water to be found. I would love to live in a state that was on the ocean so I could have fresh seafood whenever I wanted.
I like a made bed, mini foods, diet coke, lavendar vanilla scented anything, vacuuming, sushi, the ocean, zombies, UFC and food.
I dislike the trendy bar scene, spray tans, wearing shorts in public, green olives, going to work, having a messy house, not being on vacation and staying out late.
I am not a niche blog, I don’t write about any one or two things, I just write about what happens or what I wish would happen. Sometimes it feels like nothing happens in my life for weeks at a time and then all of a sudden I have a million and one things to write about.
to get or not to get
Lindsay Lohan is going to jail right now, no idea why I’m so excited about this. Ever since Paris Hilton was forced to serve time, when most of these starlets get off with a few hours in jail, I’ve felt like all of them should go to jail. I spend way too much time reading gossip sites……
So yesterday was our anniversary, and it was kind of a weird one because we didn’t actually celebrate the day of. That Alaskan vacation was kind of an anniversary present to each other. We had a nice anniversary weekend. We went to the movies and out to dinner and Sunday night we had grilled salmon and champagne. But Monday, the actual day of, I was at home sitting on my butt and he was at work. And then at dinner I wrote HAPPY ANNIVERSARY on his napkin in silver sharpie because I’m classy.
I am considering getting a kitten. I have never had a cat in my life and am semi allergic to long haired ones. It’s a very big decision for me based upon that alone. What if i accidentally get a kitten that I think will be short haired and ends up long haired? can you shave a cat? anyway, my husband has had cats and he’s not worried about this at all. he knows how to introduce them to dogs. I am such a worry wart when it comes to my furbabies. What if my dogs hate the cat? Can’t we all just get along?
I have friends with cats, and some of their cats I have only seen once or twice. Cats just kind of walk around self sufficient, which I think I might like. But then I might also be sad that this cat ignores me. For those of you who have cats, any difference between males and females that should be noted?
Nothing ever sounds like a good idea to me the first time around, i overthink everything. I think i should just go to the humane society and get a kitten. what do you think?
temporary insomnia
It’s 2:40am and I have been awake since 1am. I don’t usually suffer from this type of insomnia, but after laying there for an hour and a half I just decided to get up. It’s probably a good thing I don’t have to work today, I’d have to be up in two hours for that anyway. I’m currently camped out on the couch with a pillow and blanket, thinking maybe I’ll fall asleep down here.
It wasn’t that long ago that I was rolling in at 2:40am after a night out on the town. Now a late night out for me is 10pm.
I never win anything, as stated before I do not have good luck AT ALL, but this week I was randomly selected to be featured on Friday Follow! If you are not familiar with this website you should head on over there right now and link up your own blog. It’s a good way to meet other bloggers.

I won another blog award! This one is from Lydia at:
Lydia has quite a few followers and you’d think that you’d get lost among the masses with her, but not true. Despite being a busy mom of 4, she’s an excellent writer and always seems to find the time to blog!
Thank you so much Lydia, I needed a pick me up today.
Here’s my award!!

Then go and link up at Mannland5!
1. Happy
This week was a 4 day work week as was last week due to our vacation
2. Giddy
My dogs. They make me laugh so hard every single day. I get all wiggly just thinking about them.
3. Joyful
My friends. I don’t have a lot of friends but the ones that I do hold close always seem to know the right things to say. And sometimes you really just need someone to say the right thing.
4. Excited
My wedding anniversary is this month. I kind of hate to say we’ve been married two years when we’ve been together 8.5. I want credit for that time served! I’m not sure why our anniversary excites me so much, but it does.
5. Appreciative
My life. Well, most of it. I lead a good life with minimal complaints. I have had to work hard for everything I’ve gotten, nothing seems to come easy to this girl. The major things in my life didn’t fall into my lap and I’m not made of good luck. So i appreciate things that much more.
Monday monday……
Who of all your blog friends would you like to meet and/or who have you met?
There are quite a few I’d like to meet, some new friends have shown me great kindness recently. Right now I am too tired to go find all the linkies. But if you think this is about you, it probably is.
I do know Thinking Cat she is one of my besties. You should go see her right now!
What kind of vehicle(s) do you drive?
I drive a 2008 Mazda 3. It is my 3rd car and my first BRAND new car. It was a real treat buying this car. My very first car was a 1994 blue Geo Metro and I still have fond memories of that little death trap. My 2nd car was a brick red Chevy Cavalier, i also loved that car. Neither one of them had power anything. So when I got my Mazda I made sure it had power windows, locks and a sun roof. Oh and cruise control, i heart cruise control so much that if it ever breaks i will stop driving.
What kind of cell phone do you have?
I have a blue Razr. My husband keeps trying to talk me into an iPhone, but I am not a phone person at all, it would be wasted on me.
What’s the most annoying thing you wish bloggers would stop doing?
Trash talking each other, tho that’s not really so much a problem anymore. We’ve all gotten older and wiser.
What’s the one thing that you still have on your bucket list to do before the year is out?
That’s a secret.
Happy Friday
Happy 4th of July weekend and happy long weekend to you if you get one. We do and I’m really looking forward to it. I know I just got back from vacation but I’m sure as most of you know, you often need a vacation from your vacation. Sometimes on holiday weekends we get to leave work early. Usually this doesn’t work out that well for me because I get off work at 2:30 and by the time word comes in that you can leave an hour or 2 early, I’ve usually got about 30 minutes left in my day. Still, I never sneeze at leaving even 30 minutes early. It’s not uncommon for people to get off work around 2:30 around here…..
I have got BIG plans for the weekend. (said with only a little bit of sarcasm) we’re giving the dogs a bath, getting UFC on PPV and I’ll be watching The Crazies while husband plays poker. Normally I’d be playing poker too but I have an early Dr. Appt Monday morning and can’t afford to stay up late the night before drinking and hussling. I told him he wins money or he doesn’t get to come home.

blog award!
I received a lovely blog award from the beautiful
My Award!

For this award, here’s what ya do:
1. Thank whoever gave you the award.
2. Tell 7 things about yourself that readers may not know.
3. Pay it forward by nominating 10 bloggers you’ve recently discovered.
So thank you Ann James!
1. I won’t wear shorts in public, or really even at home. My legs are white and pasty and even I don’t want to look at them.
2. I can’t spell Apocalypse or Broccoli, I have to look them up every time. sometimes I get broccoli right but NEVER apocalypse, which is weird because I’m really into the zombie apocalypse.
3. I learned how to spell Restaurant from watching too many Seinfeld episodes.

4. Every Friday I make ‘special coffee’ to take to work. That just means that it’s vanilla flavored and I use a fancy creamer. I’m starting to think that the ‘special’ part should be whiskey.
5. I have never in my life had a real nightmare. What most may call a nightmare I call a fun dream.
6. I am a not a big talker, but that makes a lot of people think i’m snobby. I can sit alone in a corner at a party and be perfectly content doing so. This also makes me a very forgettable person. I blend in well and hear lots of your secrets.
You really should look around better to see who is around when you’re spreading hot gossip. I blend in so well that sometimes the gossip has been about me.
7. my husband tried to break up with me once (before we were married) and I thought about it and then rejected his suggestion. It WAS just a suggestion, right? Oh well, that one worked out in the end.
I don’t remember exactly how it went, but i think it was a little something like this
him: I think we should break up
me: hmmm. yeah. no.
I have discovered a lot of new blogs in the past month or so, it was very hard to pick who to pass this blog award on to. But here are just a few of the great ladies I have met over the past month.
Journey to the Center of the Uterus
shoot, i hope those links are right.
OK so apparently he tried to break up with me twice. The first time went as stated above and then second time I drove to his house and told him TOO BAD.
If anyone has ever wondered why he is with me, it’s pretty obvious why. he can’t get away from me.
