things

I'm 35 years old, closing in on 36. I married a younger man (I *think* he's 32). My husband and I have been together 8 years but just got married in July 2008. We have two dogs who are probably the loves of my life. I clean a lot, eat a lot, complain a lot and like to take long walks preferably on a beach, except that we live in Arizona and the closest beach is hours away.

happy 3 day weekend (if you get one)

happy 3 day weekend to anyone who has one!

*
1. What do you do when you have time to yourself?

I don’t have kids or anything so I have a lot of time to myself.   i clean, watch a lot of tv, wander around aimlessly.

2. When you look out your kitchen window, what do you see?

My neighbors kitchen window and our side patio.

3. Who/What would you want to be reincarnated as?

someone with a smoking hot bod, nice boobs and a pretty face.  or a puppy.  preferably a puppy who gets to live in a house like mine.

4. What is your biggest pet peeve about other people’s kids?

how some people just let their kids run wild in public.   example i was getting tires last week and this woman with her two small boys, around the ages of 3-4 came in.   they knocked over multiple tires that were set out as a display.   they shook the candy machine.  they screamed at the top of their lungs.  they started fighting each other.   every once in a while the mom would go, “boys, stop”.  she said it very quietly without authority.  then they started chasing each other around the waiting room screaming.  it only ended when they left.   i almost grabbed one of them as they ran past me, to get them to stop.  but if someone grabbed my child like that, i’d pop that person in the face.

5. Regular or Diet soda?

Diet fo sho.   I know diet soda is not good for you and i know that they say drinking diet soda makes you fat.  but i HEART DIET COKE and really don’t drink that much of it and drink the caffeine free kind.   as if that makes any difference.

Happy Blog hopping!!!

BoostMyBlogFriday

thursday!!

Happy Thursday.   I’m in another hop today after having not participated in one in a while.  I especially like this one because it will also take you to the page where people link up their giveaways.  The below button is only for blog hopping and not the giveaways.    I have yet to win a single giveaway but know a few people who seem to win a couple every month.  LUCKY!

My husband was (is) out of town on an overnight business trip, he’ll be back today.   I was a little sad last night when I was sitting there eating dinner alone without him.  But at least it was only one night!  we’re not joined at the hip but we don’t spend a lot of time apart, if that makes any sense.

the other night our snake threw up two dead mice he’d eaten the day prior.   i only tell you this because if i had to smell that, you have to read about it.  and maybe create your own visual.   i’m just thankful he threw them up just before my husband left because there was no way i was sticking my hand in that tank with a hungry snake.

Hops!

I haven’t done any hops for a while.    If you’re here from one of them, hello and thanks for stopping by.   And if you feel like reading a little more about me I suggest This post or maybe even this one.

I don’t know if you guys watch Dancing With the Stars, but this seasons stars were announced yesterday and I am none too pleased.   I am especially unhappy about one of the ‘stars’.   She’s not even a star, she’s there based upon who her mother is and she’ll probably run away with a ton of votes because of that.    Everyone thought Kate Gosselin was a bad pick, this was worse.  As you can see, I’m very passionate about my shows!!

Getting to know YOU

The Q’s.

1. If you accidently knick a car in a parking lot..Do you leave a note or do you get the heck out of there?

I’m not really sure, I think in the end the guilt would get me if I just took off.  If it wasn’t bad, like i just dinged their door with my door, then I don’t care.   One time my husband and I were in a grocery store parking lot and someone went down the parking lot aisle the wrong way and tried to swing into a parking spot angled in the other direction.   she hit a car no less than 5 times in her attempts to back up and repark.  I mean, we just stood there watching her repeatedly hit this car and then basically pull off it’s front bumper.   She ended up taking off and we ended up calling the police and getting her plate number.  Since she was an out of towner, the odds of them getting her were not good.

.
2. Love your body or plastic surgery?

I would definitely get liposuction.  Thanks to genetics no amount of diet and exercise can get rid of some of my fattier areas.    I would never change anything about my face but I think I would get boobs.   not real big ones or anything.   Grapefruits might be nice.

.
3. What about your favorite blog(s) continues to drive you back?

some of them because they are actually my friends IRL, and others because we have stuff in common and I feel I can relate to them.

.
4. What percent of your blog is BS just to make your life seem more interesting than it really is?

It’s all true.   There are definitely things I leave out, and those things would probably make my blog WAY more interesting.  Maybe someday I’ll be able to write about those things.

.
5. If you had to give up one type of meat for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I’m thinking about this one very seriously.    Goat, I won’t eat any goat.  I don’t like it, so I won’t be missing out on anything.

.
6. How often to you eat out?

Normally we eat breakfast out on the weekend.

.
7. Skinny jeans or boot cut jeans?

Boot cut for sure.   I hate skinny jeans and hate the skinny people who wear them.  Especially teenage boys.

.
8. If you caught your spouse cheating would you forgive, divorce, or plan your kill?

divorce.  no question.

5 Q. Fri

1. How many pets do you have?

Technically 5.   Two dogs, two fish and a ball python.  I pay no mind to the snake, not because I don’t like snakes but because I don’t care about snakes.    At least I’m not scared of it.      My goldfish is just a feeder goldfish but he’s about 6-7 years old.  Pretty sturdy.   The other fish is a betta, I go thru betta’s pretty fast but this one’s been around for about a year I think.

2. If you could switch places with anyone in the world for one day, who would it be?

someone with a really smoking hot body and nice boobs.    And a nice face too.

3. What is your favorite money saving tip?

I bring my breakfast, lunch and snacks to work as well as my own coffee.  That right there saves you a shit ton of money per week.

4. What do you want your kids to be when they grow up?

People with common sense.  Who cares if they are a doctor or lawyer or princess ballerina, as long as they have common sense…..

5. What is your favorite quote?

if you don’t like something, change it.   If you can’t change it, change your attitude.  Don’t complain.  -maya angelou.   I should probably take this advice more often.

only Thursday???

Have you been to Tammy’s Two Cents or Menopausal New Mom yet to link up for Thursday’s Friends and Giveaways?  This is a blog hop and a giveaway linky together!  Two separate linkys easy to find under one post!

Speaking of Thursday, I can’t believe it’s only Thursday.   This week has dragged on FOREVER.

Remember this shirt that I wanted so bad?  My husband bought it for me!!!   Except I’m fat and it doesn’t totally fit.  it like 98% fits.  And as stated previously, I spent the last year emotionally eating.  After I figured out that I was doing that, I emotionally ate for a little while longer because I was so sad that I had done that and didn’t care.    In the past year I have managed to cancel out almost all of the good habits I spent a year or two creating.

Hey I’ve had a rough year, cut me some slack!

August was the month I decided to get back on track (minus the birthday weekend eating extravaganza)  and so far so good.   Baby steps.   I am the only one that can control this part of my life and while I still want to be lazy and eat chips and brownies all day long, I know I can’t.  so now I will only eat them half of the day!!

Point being, I mean it, that shirt will fit soon.  101%

This one, who certainly looks innocent and lazy hanging half out of his castle (yes my dog has a castle)

has been barking at one of our windows every night (morning) usually between 2:30am-4:00am.   I am fairly certain he barks at my neighbors kitchen light.  There is nothing else he can see from that window.  SO annoying.

week over

What a week!  First I update iTunes and my entire library of music was gone!  GONE!  I’m not as upset as I thought I’d be, and I still need to make a phone call to iTunes to see what the deal is.  fortunately for me most of my latest music was in CD form and I still have those.   somewhere.

My phone is dying and I apparently need a new one.

I got my oil changed yesterday and they wouldn’t rotate my tires because your best tires need to be on the front.  My best tires were already on the front.  Needless to say I need new tires.

My car registration is due.

Then there was all that work drama, that mostly got worked out. I’ll say I’m still peeved, and leave it at that.

1. Who has it easier-men or women? Feel free to elaborate!

In then end I think it probably evens itself out.  Aside from guys getting to pee anywhere they want, cleanly.    And then we have to give birth and have PMS.   So wait, I guess men have it easier.  Also when they get older they become distinguished and we just get old.

2. What’s the most scandalous thing you’ve done this week?

I said swear words loudly to my boss!!  oopsies.

3. Worst pick up line you’ve ever heard?

Can I take your picture?   Except that it totally worked and I married that guy.

4. Who’s your celeb crush?

Jesse James was one of them, but then he turned out to be a huge douche.

5. Do you feel comfortable talking about sex?

With who? My mom?  Hells no.

6. What’s your all time favorite movie?

Probably Shaun of the Dead.  Or Dawn of the Dead. Or Can’t Buy Me Love.

how i spent my birthday night

I filled out a police report.
we were on our way to my b-day dinner when this guy cut us off pulling out of a neighborhood street onto the main road in front of us.  we both ended up turning right at the light and he ended up behind us on that street when the lane he chose merged into our lane.   then like out of nowhere he seriously almost rammed us twice from behind, it was like the movies.  like he sped up and then slammed the brakes.  the section of road we were on was down to 25 mph and he probs did about 50.

so we get over a lane because this guy is crazy cakes and now we are in the lane next to him and he’s basically swerving into us.   we pull off the road and call the cops.  as we are talking to them someone else is calling them about the same guy. because they saw him almost hit us and then drive over a median.  so this good Samaritan follows him to a panda express where he parks terribly and gets out of the car with his 7 year old kid!   It’s now a felony if you get a DUI and have a minor in the car with you, you can just expect to go to jail.

while we’re having dinner the cops call us back and ask us to come down and identify the car.   we do.  we see the guy and my husband effing knows the guy.  not like they are best friends or anything, but still.  it’s not like we live in a tiny town.

The driver was ‘impaired’ that’s all I know, but apparently very impaired.

the cop that we were talking to about all of this is the same cop that breathalyzed our friend at his bachelor party earlier this year, just for kicks.  he was working as security at the bowling alley and they got him to breathalyze my friend and the cop even remembered that!

happy birthday to me!

Today is my birthday!!!!

I’m working from home today and my husband cooked me breakfast and brought it up to me at my desk!  HOORAY!  today is off to a great start.

The Philosophy stuff I ordered over the weekend with my b-day gift card finally showed up yesterday.   It was delivered to the wrong house on Tuesday and the tracking showed ‘left at front door’.  just not my front door.   After talking with customer service a few times, the driver was able to backtrack and picked up the package at a house on the next street over.   The cul de sacs off the main neighborhood street have street names with similar letters. this happens all the time.   i think whoever lives at that house should have brought the package over, just like we did last week when we got someone elses package.

my whole birthday revolves around food.    i swear i do not have food issues.   Today we’ll be going out for a birthday dinner, tomorrow another birthday dinner at my beloved Golden Corral. and then Saturday dinner out again, but Saturday is more of a belated anniversary dinner since there were circumstances on our actual anniversary and dinner never happened.   Cold Stone also sent me a coupon for free ice cream for my bday, and Borders books sent me one for free coffee or tea.

If I’m feeling productive i’m going to try and make a chocolate cake from scratch for myself as well.    I’m not very good baking cakes and could use the practice.

I’ve also taken tomorrow off from work and will be getting a hot stone massage in the afternoon.   I can’t wait.

Wayback Wednesay, just a wee bit early.

Welcome to Way Back Wednesday with The Adventures of Goober Grape & Monkey Man, The Life of a Sippy Cup Mom!, The Scoop on Poop! and The Nerdy Katie!

This week is all about your first car.  I didn’t start driving ‘legally’ until I was 21. I didn’t have a real desire to get my drivers license until it became pretty much a necessity. Plus I couldn’t afford a car or the insurance so I just took the bus to work for about a year and saved up some money.    I didn’t have any credit at all when I went to buy a car and had a really hard time getting a loan.  Most people buy their first car for cash after they’ve found the car of their dreams on a street corner with a for sale sign in the window. But I didn’t have that kind of cash saved up and needed a car, so financing it was.

My first car was a 1994 Geo Metro.  If you click on that link it takes you to Edmunds and it shows that the trade in value is $135.  I’m not kidding you when I say that if I could find another one of these for under $500 that ran, I’d buy it.

This isn’t my car but that’s what my car looked like, down to the color.   It cost me $6000 but with the high interest rate from not having credit my payments were $155 a month.  My insurance was $160 a month.   I bought it in September of 1995.

I later refinanced and my payments were $75 a month!  that’s how high my interest rate was.

This car was pretty awesome for being a death trap.  It had three cylinders, couldn’t make it up a hill going the speed limit and would shake if you hit 75 mph.  You also couldn’t idle at a red light and run the AC because the car would shake and threaten to stall out. No AC at red lights in AZ in the summer is not a good idea.

but it got excellent gas mileage.  back in the 90′s getting upwards of 38 mpg was unheard of.  It only had an 8 gallon tank and that was back when gas was 99 cents a gallon. (this makes me sound really old) so i could get a lot of gas into it with the change I found on the floor of my car.   I used to get so pissed because you could get things free with a fill up but a fill up was considered 10+ gallons.    Tires cost about $20 each,  the doors automatically locked when you hit 3mph and didn’t matter if you went that 3mph in reverse, they still locked.    My AC completely broke in summer and the door handle on the drivers inside busted on more than one occasion, but it was still under warranty so everything was fixed for free.

I got this car to nearly 100,000 miles and it was still going pretty strong but I was ready for something new.   so I got my next car which was a one year old used 1998 Chevy Cavalier.  that one cost me $9,000 (talked down from $11k)   I  got that car to over 100,000 miles before I traded it in for my brand new 2008 Mazda 3.  So yes, i am just about 36 and have only had 3 cars.

I keep cars a long time because I don’t like change and I also am pretty stingy with my money and don’t like spending it on cars.   If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
