things

I'm 35 years old, closing in on 36. I married a younger man (I *think* he's 32). My husband and I have been together 8 years but just got married in July 2008. We have two dogs who are probably the loves of my life. I clean a lot, eat a lot, complain a lot and like to take long walks preferably on a beach, except that we live in Arizona and the closest beach is hours away.

dude

in the past week we’ve noticed that Voodoo has an understanding of how a conversation between two people works.    He looks at the person talking and then when they’re finished speaking he immediately looks at the other person, before they even get a chance to speak because, hello, it’s their turn to talk.   And then when they are done, he looks to the other person again.  It’s hilarious, it’s like he’s watching a tennis match.   it’s probably more hilarious to me because he’s my dog.   but he’s so SMART!!!!

also, my throat hurts again.

sicky

i’ve been semi sort of kinda sick all this week.  except i might be better now, i can’t tell.  I had a sore-ish throat for 3-4 days but then i coughed up the nastiest grossest and most unexpected snot ball ever and felt peppy afterward.   kind of like after your dog poops and then comes running in all excited.   or maybe that’s just my dog.

but i’m tired and lack motivation and just want to sit around drinking soda all day.  and maybe breathe thru my nose properly.

August is supposed to be a slow month but suddenly we have something to do every.single.weekend.   and if you know me, you know that irks me.  i’ll get over it.  i think i get more upset at the idea of having multiple things to do.  because then i get there and do said things and i’m fine.  my weekend curfew is still 11pm.   it’s my cutoff point.    2 beers, 965 o’douls and then home.

happy anniversary

This was not my anniversary present, but just a present to me from my husband because I wanted a plain band to wear.   I had to give in and agree to platinum instead of white gold, still a win for me.

my weekend started off with a visit to the COACH store, the last three times I went I couldn’t find anything i wanted and this time I found at least 5 purses.  I ended up buying two, with only minimal guilt.

We spent the night at the Royal Palms in Scottsdale.   The resort is very pretty and there are gardens and fountains all around.  When you get there, you don’t have a choice, you are just going to valet your car.   Everyone was really super friendly and a little confused that we didn’t want help with our bags or anything.

After check in we went to the lounge and had drinks for about an hour.

We stayed in a Spa Suite, which was not without its faults.  The TV’s in both rooms would randomly change themselves to channel 0.   I’m pretty sure a ghost was involved. The shower was also broken but the maintenance guy repaired it in just a few minutes.

half of the living area, in front of the couch is a massive entertainment center that had drawers full of exercise equipment.   underneath the couch is a massage table if you want in room massage.

the bathroom was an area between the living area and bedroom.  there were sliding doors on either side for privacy.  to the right of the tub is a STEAM shower.  I soaked in that tub and watched some TV this morning.

one side of the bedroom

directly outside our porch

We had room service for dinner and breakfast, which was kind of tricky because there wasn’t a table to eat at.   We kind of just ate in the living room using that ottoman and our laps or the floor as a table.

I would definitely go back to this resort, but I’d try a different type of room. Maybe next year!

Today (our actual anniversary) we’re just hanging out at home with the dogs.  I took tomorrow off to be even more lazy.

MJ

Do you remember arcades?  The old school type before fancy places like GameWorks and Dave and Busters.  The ones that were randomly in strip malls and weren’t anything but a room full of old stand up games.   I used to go to those places all the time and hustle adults at pac man and then ms. pac man but not pac man jr. because that shit was too hard. the screen would scoot over so it was really like three screens and it was just too much to handle.

But what really sticks out the most is that those places were big when Michael Jackson was in his peak and I remember kicking so much ass to MJ songs.

MJ was my entire childhood.  From watching the Jackson 5 cartoon to kissing my poster to rattling off random Jackson trivia.   I was a massive fan.   And even tho he got weird when he got older, I still read everything I came across about him.  I was and still am completley fascinated by him.

I really don’t know if he was a pedophile, I have no doubt he acted inappropriately but whether or not he did anything seriously wrong, I don’t know.  I never paid much attention to it.  just like have no opinion on whether OJ did it, (no this is not a black thing) mainly because I never paid close enough attention to form one.   There are just some things I don’t pay close attention to or care enough about.   Of course I tend to care about all the wrong things.

Like Billy Mays dying.  OMG I loved BILLY MAYS!   That dude ‘had it’ because I would watch an oxi clean commerical ten times in a row and love it more each time.  KABOOM.

When john ritter died i think i ended up crying for week, but that was because he was also a huge part of my childhood and then all those darn tributes on tv were just so damn touching.

I don’t even know why or how I get so attached to someone I don’t know, so all I have to say is that if anyone I actually know dies,  I will more than likely just lose it.  I pretty much handle every situation well, but i do not do death.   at all.  it’s probably my one weakness.  that and potato chips.  and diet coke.  and the sims 3.   but those are different kinds of weakness.   if you want to cut your finger off i will put  a towel around it and drive you to the hospital.  if you get arrested i will come bail you out.   i could probably deliver your baby and keep my cool, but just don’t die.

also, happy birthday america.
